Becoming a bum in the name of recycling

Last year, everywhere in U.S most of the public trash cans have been upgraded to a new model which allows you to separate trash from trash - cans from bottles and simply trash. I know what you're thinking, because I thought the same. Thank God they're doing something about recycling, let's save the earth and blah blah blah. But here is the thing (because there is always a thing*); When you buy a bottle of water or soda, they charge you an extra 5 cents for the plastic bottle, which you can later return if you'd like at selected centers and receive your cents back.Of Course, you don't do that, but there are people out there (as seen on TV lol) who actually do and make a living out of it. So...I've been feeling like a bum lately every time I try to throw away my bottles because I feel like I'm working for the garbage company. You must admit it, looks like I'm kind of doing their job (separating shit) and on top of that PAYING them in cents (1 bottle 5 cents). Here goes a little bit of math: 1 bottle=5 cents.Say a garbage can, collects 100 bottles a day = 5 dollars. If the company owns at least 100 garbage cans around the town/city =$500 a day, by 30 days=$15.000 A MONTH! Say they operate in 10 towns, that brings the total at =$150.000 a month!!! Despite being paid for their services, we end up bumming ourselves ,to help these companies make more money, all in the name of RECYCLING! Talk about loads of B.S!
